Registered agent

Every entity needs a registered agent on file with the state.

What's a registered agent? It's the person or service authorized to receive legal documents and state correspondence on your business's behalf. You can act as your own agent, designate someone else you trust, or use a third-party registered agent service, whichever fits your situation. Your registered agent must have a physical street address in the same state where you're forming your business (a P.O. box doesn't qualify), so if you or the person you have in mind isn't based there, a third-party service is usually the simplest option. Whoever you choose, they need to be in place before your formation is filed; this isn't something that can be added after the transaction.

EIN RegistrationRecommended

An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is your business's federal tax ID, issued by the IRS, essentially the business equivalent of a Social Security number. You'll need one to open a business bank account, hire employees, file business tax returns, and apply for business credit or licenses. Almost every business needs one, even single-member LLCs.

$100

Operating AgreementRecommended

This document spells out ownership percentages, how profits and losses are split, who makes decisions, and what happens if an owner leaves or the business is sold. If your business has more than one owner, it's treated as a partnership for tax purposes and an operating agreement is essential to avoid disputes down the road. Even single-owner LLCs benefit from having one on file for banks and liability protection.

$100

Virtual Business Address

A real street address you can use on state filings, your website, and marketing materials instead of your home address. It keeps your personal address off public records, includes mail handling and forwarding, and is especially useful if you're working from home or don't have a commercial office. $150 covers setup; ongoing plan fees vary depending on which virtual address provider fits your needs, we'll walk you through the options.

Business Credit & Funding Program

A structured program to build credit under your business's own name, separate from your personal credit. We review your business's fundability, verify consistency across your name, address, EIN, licenses, and banking, help establish your business credit bureau profiles, and guide you through the right vendor and revolving tradelines in the right sequence. Once your business qualifies, we prepare a full funding package and help you apply for financing that fits your revenue and goals, with ongoing progress tracking throughout.

Corporate Book & Seal

A physical record book for your business, holding your formation documents, membership or stock certificates, an ownership ledger, and meeting minutes templates, plus an official embossing seal engraved with your business name, formation state, and year, used to stamp contracts and corporate documents. Neither is required by any state, but many banks, investors, and attorneys expect to see them on file, and they keep your official records organized in one place.

$100

Startup Bookkeeping & Tax Services

Get your books and tax setup right from day one instead of untangling it later. We set up your chart of accounts, connect your bank and accounting software, and put a simple system in place for tracking income and expenses, then handle your first-year tax filing. Pricing depends on your business's complexity and expected transaction volume.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does business formation take?

Processing times vary by state and filing volume. Some states approve filings within days, others take a few weeks. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.

What information do I need to get started?

Your proposed business name, the state you're forming in, your contact information, and how many owners or members the business will have. That's enough to get started. We'll follow up if anything else is needed.

What's the difference between an LLC, Corporation, and S-Corp?

An LLC offers liability protection with flexible management and pass-through taxation, making it a popular choice for small businesses. A Corporation (C-Corp) is a separate tax-paying entity, often used by businesses planning to raise outside investment. An S-Corp isn't a separate entity type: it's a tax election made on top of an LLC or Corporation that can offer payroll tax savings once the business is profitable enough. Not sure which fits? Choose "Not Sure Yet" in the form above for a free consultation.

Do I need a registered agent?

Yes. Every state requires one. It's the person or service that receives legal and state correspondence on your business's behalf. You can act as your own agent, designate someone else, or use a third-party registered agent service, we don't act as registered agent ourselves, but we're happy to point you toward a service if you need one.

What happens after I submit and pay?

You'll get a confirmation, and our team begins reviewing and preparing your filing. We'll reach out if we need anything else before submitting to the state.

Can I add services later?

Yes. Bookkeeping, payroll, business credit, trust and asset protection, and fractional CFO services can all be added once your business is formed. Nothing here is a one-time-only offer.

What does the Business Credit & Funding Program include?

A full fundability review of your business, help establishing your business credit bureau profiles, guided vendor and tradeline applications in the right order, payment and reporting progress tracking, and, once your business qualifies, a prepared funding package with hands-on application support. To get started we'll ask for your formation documents, EIN letter, recent bank statements, and a handful of other business details; we'll send the full checklist once you're enrolled. Credit approvals, limits, and funding amounts are ultimately decided by outside bureaus, vendors, and lenders, so results can't be guaranteed, but the program is built to move your fundability forward at every stage.
